Uniform Wares Takes On Tokyo

Uniform Wares
Takes On Tokyo

The Uniform Wares team recently packed its bags and headed to Japan for the first ever Made to Measure event outside of our London atelier. The day was hosted by Vulcanize, a fantastic shop in Aoyama, Tokyo, who specialise in selling some of the finest British brands including Globetrotter, Smythson, Turnbull & Asser, John Smedley and of course, Uniform Wares.

The Made to Measure event offered our Japanese customers the opportunity to customise a watch from either our men’s or women’s collections and each watch was made up and packaged personally by our CEO, Oliver. On the flip side, it also gave us the chance to meet some of our customers face to face – something we don’t get to do nearly enough of!

It was a brilliant day, with lots of new people being introduced to Uniform Wares for the first time, as well as visits from many of our loyal customers who have been collecting our watches since the brand launched. We also had a visit from the Fine Boys magazine team and Fashion Tsushin – the iconic Japanese fashion television show that’s been going for over 30 years (more on this soon…).

Aside from our Made to Measure event, we had a whirlwind week of press appointments, meetings with our Japanese stockists, a not-so-top-secret trip to Seoul, as well as a few scheduled days of fun. Our favourite pastimes included an architectural tour of the city, leisurely shopping at Porter-Yoshida & Co., the LINE FRIENDS shop and X-Girl. And no trip to Tokyo is complete without a visit to the Tustaya bookstore. Evenings were filled with requisite karaoke bar visits and downtime at both the CLASKA and Trunk hotels.

We had an ace time in Japan and feel like we left so much unexplored. We fully intend go back again very soon!
